| | bouncy | ] | This Sunday I am taking a class to learn how to make chocolate at home, from scratch! Woo hoo! (courtesy of one of my meetup.com groups)
On Saturday I also have plans to go apple and pumpkin picking in NJ.
This past weekend I tried and failed at cooking everything except for pancakes. I tried making some sweet potato french fries but the oven died on me, so I tried making them in the toaster oven instead. Unfortunately I that meant I burned them into crispy black yam sticks with an oily underside (because I also completely forgot to flip them over too). I tried grilling some figs with goat cheese, but that also didn't come out right. They just tasted weird and mushy, nothing at all like how I envisioned them. I hope this doesn't carry over to next weekend's class...
I'm also currently reading a book on making homemade/flavored vinegar. Its really easy and cheap to make, and vinegar can be used for about a million different things in the home - cleaning, skin care, facial care, brightening laundry/carpet colors, adding spice to foods, freshening up kinda stale foods, etc. Its also been said to help alkalize the body, cleanse toxins, prevent disease, promote fat loss - list goes on and on. I'm trying to plan out what I want to grow in my herb garden so that I can whip up some nice vinegars over the next year. |
