This man has given voice to my worst fear. The post I made a couple days ago about when its best to have kids basically stems from hearing comments like this. If I could give this guy and all the asshole commenters on digg a swift kick in the nuts, I would.
But as it stands, there are probably many guys in the tech field that think like this, many that I will probably work with but will never state their opinion outright to my face. And so my intense fear of ever having children goes on. If I ever do have kids, I run the risk of being discredited professionally, even in 2007. Even if I'm married and properly educated and in good financial position. Even if I had a husband, although he would not be expected to take time off from work, nor be affected professionally.
That is fucking bullshit.
Do we work in a world where the things that make us human are looked down upon? |
